What Is the Hydration IV?

The Hydration IV is the cleanest expression of what intravenous therapy does best: deliver isotonic fluid and electrolytes directly into circulation, restoring fluid balance and tissue hydration on a timeline oral rehydration simply cannot match.

This is not a kitchen-sink drip. It is a focused protocol for patients who need rapid, well-designed rehydration without the additional compounds of our Recovery or Performance IVs.

How It Works

The protocol addresses fluid balance through three targeted mechanisms:

  • Isotonic saline or lactated Ringer’s restores plasma volume immediately
  • Magnesium and potassium restore the electrolyte balance most commonly disrupted by dehydration
  • B-complex vitamins support the cellular energy systems compromised during dehydration

Because IV delivery bypasses the gut entirely, rehydration is complete — unlike oral fluids, which are capped by gastric emptying and intestinal absorption rates.

The Infusion Experience

Patients are seated in a private clinical setting. Most feel tangible relief from dehydration symptoms — headache, fatigue, mental fog — well before the session is complete.

In-home Hydration IVs are available for established patients, a common choice for post-travel recovery or post-event rehydration.

Protocol Details

The Hydration IV is built on an isotonic carrier with electrolytes and B-complex. Targeted add-ons — anti-nausea support, anti-inflammatory support, additional B12 — are available when clinically appropriate.

Exact formulation and cadence are determined during your physician consultation based on your clinical picture and goals.

What to Expect

Relief is typically rapid. Headache, thirst, and lightheadedness resolve well before the session is complete, and energy and mental clarity continue improving in the hours that follow.

No downtime is required. Patients return to normal activity immediately.

Safety & Physician Oversight

All Hydration IVs at The FMR are administered under physician supervision. Pre-infusion assessment confirms appropriate candidacy and rules out conditions (advanced renal disease, decompensated cardiac failure) in which rapid fluid administration would be inadvisable.

The protocol has an excellent safety profile. Side effects are rare and generally limited to mild site sensitivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the Recovery IV?

The Hydration IV is focused and minimal — fluid, electrolytes, B-complex. The Recovery IV layers in amino acids, anti-inflammatories, and broader support compounds. Choose Hydration when the primary issue is dehydration; Recovery when there is also exertion or illness to recover from.

How fast will I feel better?

Most patients feel a meaningful reduction in dehydration symptoms well before the session is complete, with continued benefit in the hours that follow.

Can I get this before a long flight?

Yes. Pre-travel hydration is a common use case. Your physician will recommend timing around your departure.

Is this the right drip for hangover recovery?

Hydration IV is appropriate for straightforward hangover symptoms. For more intense recovery needs — nausea, headache, systemic inflammation — the Recovery IV is usually a better fit because it includes anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea add-ons.

Is in-home delivery available?

Yes. Established patients may receive Hydration IVs in-home. This is particularly convenient for post-travel or post-event scenarios.
